गुडग़ांव- देश के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में महिलाओं का भी अहम योगदान रहा। हालांकि महिला स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों के बारे में इतिहासकारों ने कोई जानकारी उपलब्ध नहीं कराई हे। प्रसिद्ध स्वतत्रता सेनानी दादा भाई नौरोजी की पोती पेरिन बेन कैप्टन की जयंती पर उन्हें याद करते हुए वक्ताओं ने कहा कि उनका जन्म 12 अक्तूबर 1888 को गुजरात के कच्छ जिले के मांडवी क्षेत्र में हुआ था। वह दादाभाई नौरोजी के सबसे बड़े पुत्र अर्देशिर की सबसे बड़ी बेटी थीं। उनके पिता एक चिकित्सक थे। बाल्यकाल में ही उनके पिता का निधन हो गया था। प्रारंभिक शिक्षा उन्होंने मुंबई में प्राप्त की थी और उच्च शिक्षा के लिए वह फ्रांस चली गई थी। उन्होंने फ्रेंच भाषा में स्नातक किया था। स्वतंत्रता सेनानी भीकाजी कामा के संपर्क में आने से वह देश के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम से जुड़ी गतिविधियों में भी बढ़-चढक़र भाग लेने लगी थी।
स्वतंत्रता सेनानी विनायक दामोदर सावरकर को लंदन में ब्रिटिश पुलिस ने गिरफ्तार कर लिया था, उन्हें छुड़वाने में पेरिन बेन ने अहम भूमिका निभाई थी। गांधी जी के आदर्शों से प्रेरित होकर उन्होंने अपना जीवन देश के लिए समर्पित कर दिया था। वह कई बार जेल भी गई, लेकिन कभी भी पीछे नहीं हटी। वक्ताओं ने कहा कि वह स्वदेशी वस्तुओं के इस्तेमाल पर अधिक जोर देती थी और उन्होंने स्वयं भी खादी पहनना शुरु कर दिया था। महिलाओं के कल्याण के लिए भी उन्होंने राष्ट्रीय स्त्री सभा के गठन में महत्वपूर्ण योगदान दिया था। उन्हें भारत सरकार द्वारा पद्मश्री सम्मान से भी अलंकृत किया गया था। उनका निधन वर्ष 1958 में हो गया था। वक्ताओं ने महिला समाज से आग्रह किया है कि वे पेरिन बेन के जीवन से प्रेरणा लें।
